  4.     Is Raisa Gorbachev becoming the prima donna of perestroika?
  5. In rare coverage of the Soviet leader's wife, TASS quoted her
  6. last week as she spoke out on her husband's reforms and the role
  7. of women in world peace at a Moscow reception honoring
  8. International Women's Day. "Soviet people are putting into
  9. practice plans of revolutionary restructuring," the Soviet First
  10. Lady said. "We want our public life . . . to be worthy of a
  11. human being."

  13.     Observers credit Mrs. Gorbachev's new prominence to both
  14. glasnost and her natural self-confidence. But not all Soviets
  15. approve of Raisa's high profile. Groused one Muscovite: "What
  16. is the meaning of Raisa this, Raisa that? Am I supposed to live
  17. like she does?" At a televised celebration at the Bolshoi
  18. Theater after her speech, it was clear that she has not totally
  19. broken the traditional mold of Soviet leaders' spouses. Mikhail
  20. Gorbachev sat on the dais, while Raisa watched from the
  21. audience.
